The Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Association (CCPA by its initials in Spanish) on Tuesday announced its “Charting Our Course, Beyond the Numbers” 5-kilometer road race, which will take place Sunday, Nov. 2 starting at 4 p.m. from the Atrium of the Capital Center Building in Hato Rey.
The event aims to promote health and well-being on the island, and this year it benefits the Autism and Related Disorders Alliance of Puerto Rico. The Alliance is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of people impacted by autism by supporting parents in the identification, treatment, and management of the condition; raising awareness about autism in Puerto Rico and in society at large; advocating for the needs of the autistic population; and offering adults with autism the opportunity to develop independent lives.
CCPA President David Rodríguez emphasized that “the 5K is an opportunity to unite as a community, not only to promote a healthy lifestyle, but also to support a worthy cause that helps us strengthen, raise awareness, and create empathy for those unfamiliar with autism.”
The event will begin with health clinics starting at 1 p.m., including lung function and the Clock Drawing Test (for detecting Alzheimer’s). There will also be a children’s race at 2:30 p.m., live music, and enjoyments for the entire family. Prizes will also be awarded for first place.
