Education (DE) Secretary Eliezer Ramos Parés on Sunday announced the second round of the recruitment of engineers and lawyers to supervise and streamline the reconstruction work at schools throughout the island.
In order to strengthen the infrastructure team, calls were opened for the aforementioned professionals and will remain available until Feb. 4.
“It is our priority to provide safe educational spaces and with this contract we will ensure that we speed up the reconstruction work,” Ramos Parés said in a written statement. “For us it is urgent to have professionals who will add to the work that has already begun. What we saw with the Aurea Quiles and Agripina Seda schools in Guánica is an example of what is planned and in process. We recognize the importance of a school environment that is conducive to providing a first-class education.”
The Education secretary opened calls for seven licensed engineers, seven engineers in training, two lawyers and an executive secretary. All will provide services focused on the reconstruction work being led by the agency’s Infrastructure Office and will provide support in the Regional Educational Offices.
