The island Family Department will hold a series of activities in the central atrium of Plaza las Américas in Hato Rey from today to Oct. 13 to orient the public on the process of adoption in Puerto Rico, with the aim of tearing down myths and informing those who want to become adoptive parents.
“Adoption is an act of love that creates new families,” Family Secretary Ciení Rodríguez Troche said. “Together we can offer hundreds of children in Puerto Rico a home full of love and stability.”
Those attending the events will receive personalized information on the legal requirements in addition to participating in talks on emotional and financial preparation.
Workshops and panels will be offered with specialists as well as testimony from adoptive families who will share their experiences.
There are hundreds of children on the island currently waiting to be adopted.
