The Puerto Rico Paralympic Committee, in collaboration with the Municipality of Canóvanas, the Department of Education, and the Department of Recreation and Sports, announced on Tuesday the initiative “4 in 1 to Boost the Future of the Paralympics in Puerto Rico,” to be held starting Thursday in different venues throughout Canóvanas.
The event will integrate, for the first time, educational, cultural, sports and recreational components under a single purpose: to strengthen the development of the Paralympic movement on the island and promote the full inclusion of people with disabilities through sports.
“In Canóvanas, we firmly believe in the transformative power of sport and in the importance of opening spaces where everyone can participate, without limitations,” Mayor Lornna Soto Villanueva said. “We are proud to host this great celebration of inclusion, talent, and hope.”
As part of the initiative, the First Puerto Rico Paralympic Congress will be held, an innovative training program for physical education and adaptive physical education teachers. During the event, participants will receive high-level training from international professionals and Puerto Rican experts, who will share knowledge on inclusion, adaptive sports methodology, and specialized physical education. The congress will also bring together sports directors from neighboring municipalities, strengthening regional collaboration in support of inclusive sports.
