Cargo plane makes emergency landing at LMM

Aerostar Puerto Rico President Jorge Hernández assured the public Tuesday that Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina was operating normally after a cargo plane had to make an emergency landing in the morning hours.
Airport emergency crews were called into action at 10:30 a.m. after an Aircargo Carriers jet failed to deploy its landing gear, forcing the jet to make an emergency “belly” landing on runway 8-26.
Hernández said no one was injured in the incident that activated emergency protocols.
“Aerostar Puerto Rico has a first-class security team to attend to emergency situations, such as occurred today,” Hernández said in a written statement. “The immediate and precise activation of the fire crews is a sign of their good preparation and their commitment to the protection of travelers, airport personnel and airport installations.”
The Aerostar chief said the airport fire crew reacted immediately to the unforeseen emergency.
The runway remained closed while the airplane was moved from its location and an inspection was conducted to assure that it was in good condition.
