He noted that Carrión has held senior positions in the public sector, most recently as chairman of the federal oversight board for Puerto Rico.

O’Drobinak said some of Carrión’s accomplishments include his performance from 1995 to 2000 as executive vice president and from 2000 to 2001 as president of AON Risk Services of Puerto Rico. He was also the co-founder and president of Carrión, Laffitte & Casellas Inc. from 2001 until the company was acquired by HUB International in 2012.

Carrión is currently a member of several local boards of directors, including at Advent Morro, cybersecurity firm GM Group, and the Psychopedagogical Institute of Puerto Rico.

“I would like to thank Jim and the MCS Board of Directors for the opportunity and the vote of confidence,” Carrión said. “It is an honor to join more than 1,900 MCS colleagues, who work tirelessly every day to provide excellent health care to the people of Puerto Rico.”

O’Drobinak added that Roberto Pando will continue his responsibilities as president of the MCS Advantage Inc. and MCS Life Insurance Co. subsidiaries, and will work alongside Carrión to continue strengthening the company as a corporate leader in the healthcare industry.
