The Certified Public Accountants Association of Puerto Rico (CCPA by its Spanish initials) will hold its XIII Conference aimed at CPAs and lawyers on Thursday and Friday at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Isla Verde.

The event will feature forums and special activities aimed at strengthening the accounting and tax practices of professionals in the field.

“We invite all CPAs and lawyers to participate in this excellent space where issues of utmost importance in the field will be discussed in depth for the benefit and professional success of all and thus continue contributing to the socioeconomic development of Puerto Rico,” CCPA President Edmy A. Rivera Colón said.

On Thursday, the seminars “Audit and Oversight Initiatives” and “Constitutive and Tax Aspects of Trusts in Puerto Rico” will be offered.

The first will discuss the legal basis and audit procedures that the IRS conducts in Puerto Rico, the determination of sources of income related to capital gains generated by residents of Puerto Rico, and oversight and auditing efforts by the government of Puerto Rico, among other topics.

In the second workshop, the legal perspective and conceptual framework on the deed of trusts and the taxes applicable in Puerto Rico to inheritances, donations and trusts will be offered. Knowing how the income from trusts is taxed in Puerto Rico and recognizing those trusts whose income is taxable by the trustors or creators of the trust will be among the aspects covered.

On Friday, the workshops “Salient Aspects of Eligibility Under the PR Incentive Code and Other Incentive Programs Under the DDEC” and “Professional Ethics with Emphasis on Tax Matters and a New Report on Beneficial Ownership” will be offered.
