By The Star Staff

April 15 is approaching, the deadline for filing income tax returns for individuals, and as in previous years, the Certified Public Accountants Association of Puerto Rico (CCPA by its Spanish initials) is announcing the start of its Facebook Live series of tax guidance for the community.

“For the sixth year in a row, we are holding these Facebook Livestreams that have the purpose of helping and guiding the community in the process of completing and filing the form,” CCPA President Edmy Rivera said in a written statement. “It is important to us that all Puerto Ricans duly and correctly comply with their tax responsibility.”

The first broadcast began Wednesday at 6 p.m. through the CCPA’s Facebook account and YouTube channel (@colegiocpapr), with staff from the Treasury Department offering the most up-to-date tax information.

The series will continue on Tuesday, March 19 when deductions will be discussed, along with filing forms and available tax credits. Then, on Tuesday, April 2, guidance will be provided on Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and Education Contribution Accounts (CAEs). To conclude, on April 9, doubts about the federal payroll will be addressed.

The livestreams are in addition to the orientations offered on television and radio programs, as well as newspaper interviews, in addition to the publication of the Taxpayer Handbook and the IRA Handbook. More information about the work and services offered by the CCPA can be accessed in its accounts on the digital platforms Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, under @colegiocpapr.
