Designated insurance commissioner resigns
By The Star Staff
Puerto Rico’s designated insurance commissioner, Mariano Mier Romeu, tendered his resignation late Wednesday.
Romeu had been appointed -- for the third time -- by Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia.
The island Senate did not take up his confirmation process in the recently concluded ordinary session, so the governor would have to have withdrawn Romeu’s appointment in order to resubmit it.
Romeu had served in the post for a year.
