Double homicide causes closure of PR-53 in Guayama

After 13 killings were recorded on the island over the weekend, authorities on Monday reported a double-homicide on highway PR-53 between Guayama and Salinas.

Police agents from the Guayama district were investigating an attack on Monday around 12:30 p.m. on the PR-53 expressway, kilometer 86.2, between Guayama and Salinas.

According to the police, a vehicle that had been hit with several gunshots was encountered at the scene. Two people were reported to have been killed in the incident.

The highway was to be closed from the Pozo Hondo light at the entrance of the prison in Guayama, until exit for the Aguirre neighborhood.

Citizens were being urged to take alternate routes (Highway 3) while authorities investigated the case.
