Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia announced Wednesday that the Public Buildings Authority (PBA) board confirmed the appointment of Ivelysse Lebrón Durán, an engineer, to the position of executive director.
“Engineer Lebrón will be focused on priority reconstruction work in our schools and public buildings,” Pierluisi said in a written statement. “Her experience in handling claims for recovery funds will allow her to give agility to the work schedule necessary for the improvements to the buildings maintained by the Authority.”
The new executive director of the PBA has experience in reconstruction processes, having held various positions in the Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience, and has worked successfully with the claims processes at the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the Municipality of San Juan.
Lebrón Durán is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, where she obtained a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering sciences. She also has completed postgraduate courses from the University of Michigan and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The PBA is one of the entities whose debt is slated to be restructured as part of the central government debt adjustment plan that would restructure some $35 billion in central government debt.
