Flu vaccinations available at shopping centers starting Friday

As part of various efforts to control the transmission of the influenza virus in the population, the island Health Department will hold a vaccination day at shopping centers around the island this weekend promoting vaccination as a vital tool to avoid infection and serious diseases.
“In the face of the influenza epidemic declaration in Puerto Rico, we urge all citizens to get vaccinated against the virus as the best way to protect ourselves and take care of those around us,” Health Secretary Carlos Mellado López said Thursday in a written statement. “Above all, on days when there are family gatherings, fraternization activities and events increase.”
The vaccination efforts are part of the “Roll Up Your Sleeves and Get Vaccinated Against Influenza” campaign for children six months and older and adults.
The vaccination activities will be held Friday and Saturday at Plaza del Caribe in Ponce from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and San Patricio Plaza in Guaynabo from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Similarly, Mayagüez Mall will host a vaccination station on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., while on Saturday it will be in Caguas @Shop and in Montehiedra in San Juan from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.
In addition, vaccination events will be held at Ralph’s Food Warehouse on Monday, Nov. 20 in Humacao and Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Yabucoa.
During the “Black Friday” weekend, a vaccination event will be held at Plaza Las Américas in Hato Rey, San Juan from Friday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Nov. 26.
