Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia traveled to Panama on Wednesday to participate with a delegation of Puerto Rican businessmen in a trade mission organized by the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC).
The governor said he will hold meetings with the president of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo; the minister of commerce and industry, Federico Alfredo Boyd; the minister of economy and finance, Héctor Alexander; and United States Ambassador to Panama Mari Carmen Aponte, among others.
Pierluisi also will participate in the “Investment Opportunities” forum to establish and expand bilateral trade relations between Puerto Rico and Panama.
In addition to business meetings, the event will feature the panel “Investing in Puerto Rico,” moderated by DDEC Secretary Manuel Cidre Miranda, in which the opportunities that exist on the island for the commercial and industrial sectors will be presented. The panel “Building Bridges of Success” will also be held, with the participation of Grupo Eleta CEO Guillermo de St. Malo, who will offer details of his experience venturing into the Puerto Rican market.
Secretary of State Omar Marrero Díaz will act as interim governor until Pierluisi’s return on Sunday.
