A hearing date for Puerto Rican brothers Luis and Erick Zapata, who have been held in a Yucatán, Mexico prison since June, has been scheduled for next Thursday, Dec. 23, according to local press reports.
The timing of the hearings opens the possibility that the brothers, accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, opens the possibility that the brothers could be released on Dec. 23 and be home for Christmas, according to the reports.
The optimism of the reports stems from the fact that the girl recanted her charge of rape on the part of the brothers and later reportedly failed to show up for a previous hearing.
