The merchants of the village of Boquerón in Cabo Rojo were enthusiastic about the success of the Ninth Illuminated Boat Parade in Cabo Rojo.
The event attracted hundreds of people from towns across the island.
The owner of the Boquemar Inn in Boquerón, Ángel Rodríguez, said the parade included 120 boats that were decorated in tune with the Christmas season. They left the Yacht Club and toured much of the bay.
“After last year we returned with this event, after the situation we faced with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Rodríguez said. “In addition, the village of Boquerón received the public with outdoor activities so they could enjoy the boats.”
He noted that one of the attractions was the Three Kings boat. The parade was part of Christmas festivities in Boquerón that began with the lighting of the area last Friday.
Meanwhile, village merchants used their resources to support the event and there were great offers at inns, restaurants and shops.
Rodríguez said it has been a blessing for the local economy that the festivities of Dec. 24, 25 and 31 have fallen on weekends because it is synonymous with a lot of visitors.
