Aerostar Executive Director Jorge Hernández announced on Thursday that due to high passenger traffic over the Holy Week holidays, there is a lack of parking space availability at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina.
“When traveling, [travelers] must take into account that the parking lot could be full,” Hernández said. “In addition, they could experience high passenger traffic at the checkpoints, administered by the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as well as at the federal Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspection station.”
The official said the demand for parking spaces has exceeded the capacity of the multilevel facility that houses the parking lot, causing it to fill up to capacity.
He anticipated that the situation could last for the rest of Holy Week and urged travelers to consult the airport’s social networks, through which parking availability will be continually updated.
Due to the increase in passenger traffic, the Aerostar CEO also urged passengers to take the necessary measures to arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance for domestic flights and three hours for international flights.
