Heavy rains in the northeast part of Puerto Rico on Wednesday morning caused flooding in Luquillo, Fajardo and Ceiba, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Similar heavy rains were forecast for late Wednesday afternoon with flooding expected in the area of Arecibo and Aguadilla, NWS forecaster Lianna Ingles said.
The NWS reported an elevated risk of flooding over most of the island except for the southwestern coastal fringe.
Aside from the locally heavy rains, the Atlantic Ocean was quiet with no new tropical cyclones expected to form for the next seven days.
