Man dies in explosion at Santurce restaurant



An explosion at the Puerta Loíza restaurant on Gilberto Monroig Avenue in Santurce left a man dead on Monday morning, according to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.

The Puerto Rico Police Bureau reported on Monday morning that agents were investigating an explosion reported at the Puerta Loíza restaurant on Gilberto Monroig Avenue in Santurce.


According to reports, the police received an alert call through the 9-1-1 Emergency System about an explosion at the location.


When the agents arrived, they found a deceased man burned in the kitchen area in circumstances that are under investigation.


Personnel from the Firefighters Bureau were mobilized to the scene and the case will be investigated by agents from the Police Bureau’s Explosives Division.
