Manatí Patron Saint Festival to offer music & more starting Thursday

Manatí Mayor José Sánchez González on Tuesday announced the schedule of the Patron Saint Festival that will take place in the Luis Muñoz Rivera public square from Thursday to Sunday.

The long-awaited event will be a mix of music, sports activities and gastronomic events, all in honor of the town’s patron saint, the Virgen de la Candelaria.

To facilitate access to the areas of the activities, the municipality has designed four collective transport routes, A, B, C and D, from strategic points to reach the square. The routes will operate from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. In addition, parking lots will be available in key locations such as the “La Candelaria” Underground Parking Lot, Puerta del Norte Parking Lot, Puerta del Este Parking Lot and the CDT Municipal Parking Lot.

Music will be the soul of this 2024 edition of the festivities, with a varied selection representing all genres for the enjoyment of all families:

Thursday, Feb. 1: Manolo Lezcano, Arnaldo Vallellanes, La Tribu de Abrante, La Secta

Friday, Feb. 2: Giselle, Plenason, Omar Courtz, Andy Montañez

Saturday, Feb. 3: Julio César Sanabria, Obie Bermúdez, Charlie Aponte, Grupo Manía

Sunday, Feb. 4: Odilio González, Luisito Carrión, Los Friends, Group 3,2,1, Rumba Caliente, Oscarito, Toño Rosario.

In addition to the cultural component, the festival will include various sporting events, such as the Boxing Cup, Taekwondo Cup, Basketball Cup and Volleyball Cup, scheduled for Saturday at different times and locations.

On Sunday, the “La Candelaria 5K” road race event will take place, starting in front of the Immaculate Conception School and finishing at the public square. Kits can be picked up on the previous Friday and Saturday at Bike Center in Manatí from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The organizing group has designed a Religious Program in honor of the Virgen de la Candelaria:

Today at 6 p.m.: Caravan of the Virgin “La Candelaria” -- Villa Amalia Community

Thursday at 6 p.m.: Caravan of the Virgin of “La Candelaria” -- Pugnado Community


6 p.m.: Blessing of the Candles, Procession

7 p.m.: Mass in Honor of the Patron Saint Virgen de la Candelaria

8 p.m.: Coronation of the Virgin, Burning of the Castle

Saturday at 4 p.m.: Mass


8 a.m.: Mass dedicated to absent Manatieños

12 noon: Misa º

The municipality has implemented a robust security and surveillance plan that includes security cameras, municipal police and state police for all days of celebration.

As part of the amenities, there will be food kiosks located around the public square.
