Manatí will look to claim BSN title tonight at home



Manatí took a 3-2 series lead with a road win Sunday night and will try to close out the National Superior Basketball finals at home tonight.

The Manatí Bears defeated the Caguas Criollos 98-89 on Sunday night at Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas to move one victory away from the National Superior Basketball (BSN by its initials in Spanish) championship.


The player of the night was Manatí’s Ethan Thompson, who finished with 21 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals while shooting at a 55% clip. Cheick Diallo had 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by Isaac Sosa with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and a pair of assists. Jihvvan Jackson scored 14 points, and Norris Cole finished with 13 points and 6 assists for the Bears.


For Caguas, Devon Collier replaced Akil Mitchell and was the game’s top player, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, nine of them on the offensive side. Travis Trice also had 18 points, along with five rebounds and five assists, and Louis King contributed 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Off the bench for the Criollos, Alexander Kappos made all his shots and finished with 14 points and four rebounds, and Christian Pizarro added 13 points.


Today at 8:10 p.m., Manatí (3-2) will look to finish the series on their home court and lift the championship trophy.
