A mass COVID-19 vaccination event will be held at the main public beach in Ocean Park on Wednesday, the day of the traditional Night of San Juan, Rep. José “Che” Pérez Cordero announced Monday.
“Thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of San Juan, the Community Pharmacy Association, Droguería Betances and the Tourism Company, people who come to Último Trolley Beach in Ocean Park will have the opportunity to get vaccinated,” Pérez Cordero said in a written statement.
The event, dubbed “Zúmbate, Vacúnate y Rompe la Ola del Covid,” will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., without prior appointment, and the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be administered. Children under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
The lawmaker noted that “it is important to continue vaccinating as many people as possible.”
“This is a great opportunity so that while we enjoy a day at the beach, we contribute to putting an end to the pandemic,” Pérez Cordero said.
San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo added that “we continue to partner to make vaccination against COVID-19 possible and speed up the pace toward the desired herd immunity.”
“Certainly the vaccination efforts have managed to slow down the infections,” the mayor said.
“Even so, it is essential to continue with safety measures and to get as many people vaccinated as possible.”
