Mayagüez hands winless Quebradillas its 11th-straight loss.

The Indios of Mayagüez topped the Piratas of Quebradillas, dealing the winless hosts their 11th loss of the season, and the Atléticos of San Germán and Mets of Guaynabo were also winners in Superior National Basketball league games on Sunday night.


At Raymond Dalmau Coliseum in Quebradillas, the Indios defeated the Piratas 114-106 in a high-scoring affair that remained tight much of the way before the visitors created some separation in the second half en route to the win.


A high-pitched first half featured 25 lead changes and the Indios headed into the locker room holding a 59-56 lead.


Mayagüez (4-5) took control in the second half, dominating the third quarter and maintaining its advantage down the stretch, ultimately sealing the victory from the free-throw line.


Nathan Sobey led the Indios’ offense with 31 points and 6 assists, followed by Tyrell Harrison with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Sam Waardenburg added 16 points and 8 rebounds.


For Quebradillas, Víctor Liz led all scorers with 36 points, while Jameer Nelson Jr. scored 22 points in his debut, and Emmanuel Mudiay also contributed 22.


At Arquelio Torres Coliseum in San Germán, meanwhile, the Atléticos prevailed 99-89 over the Leones of Ponce.


The first half ended tied at 46, but the Atléticos gained control in the second half, winning the third quarter and outplaying the visitors in the final 10 minutes. 


Nick Perkins led the Atléticos (7-3) with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, followed by André Curbelo with 22 points and 9 assists. Montrezl Harrell added 19 points.


Jezreel de Jesús led Ponce (4-8) with 30 points.


At Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Hato Rey, the Mets defeated the Cangrejeros of Santurce, 94-91.


The Mets got out to a 23-14 first-quarter lead and extended it to double digits for much of the first half for a 51-39 advantage at the intermission.


Guaynabo held a double-digit lead through much of the second half before Santurce managed to narrow the gap in the closing moments. In the end, the Mets executed better from the free-throw line to seal the victory.


Maxwell Abmas had 20 points and 9 assists for Guaynabo (4-6), and Jaysean Paige also scored 20 points. Ysmael Romero contributed a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Devin Williams added 11 points and 10 rebounds.


Malik Beasley and Ángel Rodríguez scored 17 points each for the Cangrejeros (4-5), with Rodríguez also tallying 10 assists. Jordan Howard added 14 points in his debut.
