In an ongoing effort to strengthen disaster preparedness and response, Aguadilla Mayor Julio Roldán Concepción on Wednesday presented the Municipal Emergency Operational Plan for the 2025 Hurricane Season.

The plan details the operational phases, mitigation strategies, logistics, supply delivery, community resilience, assistance, available resources, and action protocols to ensure the safety of Aguadilla residents in the event of any atmospheric event.

“The well-being of our people is our priority. That’s why we’ve developed a structured, strategic, and preventive plan that includes everything from mitigation actions to response and recovery protocols,” the mayor said. “With an investment of more than $4 million, we’ve provided our Municipal Emergency Management Office with new equipment and resources to meet the needs of our people in the event of a natural emergency.”

The plan announced by Roldán Concepción includes several operational phases that establish specific actions to be taken 120 hours before the potential impact of a major storm and the immediate response to the areas most affected by it.

“We are prepared with equipment, trained personnel, and an inventory of supplies that will allow us to respond quickly and effectively before, during, and after the atmospheric phenomenon,” the mayor said. “The stages of our action plan include activating the Emergency Operations Center (EOC); checking shelters, communication systems, and supply logistics; and pre-identifying people with medical or other needs.”
