More than 20,000 tickets issued on island highways over the weekend

The Puerto Rico Police Highway Patrol Bureau on Monday announced the results of the past weekend’s patrols, in which police issued more than 20,000 tickets.
According to the bureau, highway patrol officers throughout the island’s 13 police regions issued tickets for administrative offenses and executed arrests for various crimes. Altogether, 20,449 tickets were issued for administrative offenses.
In addition, nine arrests were made for possession of controlled substances, four for violations of the Weapons Law, and 34 for drunk driving.
During the interventions, four .40-caliber pistols, 195 rounds of ammunition, nine bags of marijuana, 25 decks of heroin, 16 bags of cocaine, 34 bags of crack and 15 pills were seized.
