“Ceasefire. Zero wars.” With these words, the organization Mothers Against War expressed on Tuesday its deep concern for civilian casualties in the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“We aspire to a peaceful and harmonious coexistence among people. Wars hinder this goal,” said Sonia Santiago Hernandez, a spokeswoman for the group. She highlighted the plight faced by the 2 million Palestinians living in precarious conditions in an area of just 140 square miles.

The organization condemned both Hamas’ actions and Israel’s blockade of Palestinians. “This is not a war, it is a genocide,” they stressed, echoing the words of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who expressed concern about the situation in Gaza.

Santiago Hernández ended with a strong message: “We urgently call on the international community to intervene courageously, addressing the health and food needs in Palestine. Motherhood symbolizes life, while war brings death. That is why we fight for peace.”
