New blogs help track progress of Housing programs under CDBG-DR

The Housing Department (DV) announced Wednesday the introduction of the new section of blogs, and blogs on the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds digital page, with the purpose of establishing an additional tool for easy access to guide citizens, organizations and municipalities on the progress of the programs implemented by the commonwealth agency.
“We continue to look for alternatives so that citizens have all the necessary information on the progress of the recovery work. Today, with this new section, we will expose through simpler language the impact of funds among citizens,” Housing Secretary William Rodríguez Rodríguez said. “We are betting on this new effort because it will help us to capture the attention of the public, who, beyond news and announcements, want to know more about the testimonies and real experiences of Puerto Ricans who have benefited.”
The blog posts seek to publicize the use of the funds and promote the applications through real stories that will convey the experiences and testimony of the participants, the Housing chief noted.
The publications will appear monthly with stories that will provide information about a different program, highlighting its benefits, but also highlighting the opportunities that the CDBG-DR grants offer in order to promote the long-term recovery of Puerto Rico.
The first three stories outline the dream of community life that is built around the Gautier Benítez de Caguas project; Doña Tomasa’s illusion upon obtaining her property title; and the opportunity that some senior citizens have received to improve their quality of life with the help of the Rental Subsidy Program.
