Philippe to dominate weather for next few days, but no tropical storm winds expected

By The Star Staff

According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Philippe will dominate the weather pattern in Puerto Rico for the next few days into the weekend.

Although forecasters were not expecting tropical storm conditions, Philippe’s influence will still be felt across the forecast area due to the presence of plenty of tropical moisture and, later in the week, its feeder bands extending toward the islands.

On Tuesday, forecasters expected the eastern two-thirds of the forecast area to have elevated flood risk.

Tropical storm winds stirred the waters just to the east of Vieques early Tuesday and were expected to be to the north and clear of the Caribbean on Tuesday evening.
