Numerous organizations favoring statehood for Puerto Rico unanimously approved the recognition of Edmundo González as the president-elect of Venezuela, democratically elected by the people of the South American country, and called for the rejection of the repression practiced by President Nicolás Maduro, as well as his defenders and allies in Puerto Rico.

Luz Z. “Lucy” Arce Ferrer, the spokeswoman and president of the Pro-Statehood Retirees Organization, reported that the statement of support for Edmundo González is in response to the danger that the dictatorial regime represents for Venezuelans and for democracy in general.

“By this means we want to express our solidarity with the Venezuelan people, who overwhelmingly on July 28 chose a change toward democracy and the prosperity of Venezuelans in their country,” Arce Ferrer said. “We also express solidarity with over 8 million Venezuelans who have escaped their country from the repression, hunger and lack of democracy that they live with there. No country should live the humanitarian crisis of Venezuela.”

The organizations recognized González, whose campaign team demonstrated with documentation a wide victory that they said signifies a cry for change for Venezuela, as president-elect.

“We recognize and celebrate the brave leadership of [barred opposition candidate] María Corina Machado in organizing the citizenry to care for their votes and documents despite a coup effort by Mr. Maduro,” the local organizations said. “María Corina is a heroine of democracy.”

It's too simple to criticize others without considering your personal and national situation in the context of the international community. Assuming that PR enjoy the benefits, rights and anything else the Big…
