Public asked to help track down suspected credit card data thieves

By The Star Staff
The Puerto Rico Police Bureau requested on Monday the help of the public to find the whereabouts of three individuals suspected of installing a device to copy credit card data in Walmart Supercenter establishments, as part of a scheme to commit fraud.
According to the investigation initiated by agents in the Banking Institutions Theft and Fraud Division, the subjects placed an attachment -- known in English as a skimming device or skimmer, which is used to clone credit and debit cards -- in one of the store’s self-service terminals.
Anyone with information that helps the identification and/or whereabouts of the aforementioned individuals is asked to call (787) 782-9006 or the confidential line of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau at 787-343-2020.
