House Majority Leader Angel Matos Garcia said Thursday that Puerto Rico’s Urban Train is in critical condition and considers the system a failure.
“What was an avant-garde project has become a dead white elephant, useless and inoperative,” Matos García said in a written statement.
The complaints of citizens who could not use the Urban Train to reach their destinations in Bayamón, San Juan and Guaynabo provoked the statements of the Representative.
“The government keeps the trains running just to maintain the illusion that things work. But no citizen can get on because of the danger of being stranded,” Matos Garcia said.
The PDP spokesman highlighted the government’s silence in the face of recent complaints.
“It is a pity that for an emblematic project, those who suggest spending money for its extension, do not recognize that the Urban Train failed,” concluded Matos García.
