Rivera Schatz blasts secretary of state over PR flag color

Pro-statehood senator Thomas Rivera Schatz scolded Secretary of State Omar Marrero Díaz for using a version of the Puerto Rican flag “that is raised by the separatists” during welcoming ceremonies for King Felipe VI of Spain on Monday.

With the presence of King Felipe VI of Spain, New Progressive Party Sen. Thomas Rivera Schatz took Secretary of State Omar Marrero Díaz to task on Tuesday for allowing the Puerto Rican flag to have the “wrong” blue.

“Good morning Mr. Secretary of State, Omar Marrero. What great explanation is there to justify the incorrect use of a Puerto Rican flag? Is this how they received the King of Spain?” the senator said on his social media outlets. “It seems unbelievable that a government with a forceful and reiterated mandate for statehood uses the wrong flag and the very one that is raised by the separatists. He who fails in the easy things, has no capacity for ANYTHING!”
