Roadwork to impact traffic on PR-52 in Ponce

The Highway and Transportation Authority (ACT by its Spanish acronym) announced Monday that it will continue with work on the Luis A. Ferré Highway (PR-52) in the Ponce toll area, in the direction of Juana Díaz.


The work will be carried out from today to Thursday, May 6, daily (Monday through Friday) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.


It will entail the closure alternately of the lane in the direction of Juana Díaz:


Today, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20: Left lane;

Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22: Middle Lane;

Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26: Right lane.

Alternate route to Juana Díaz: PR-52 to PR-2 Intersection PR-1.

It will also entail alternate lane closure in the direction of Ponce:

Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28: Left lane;

Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3: Middle Lane;

Wednesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 6: Right lane.


The alternate route will be Ponce: PR-1 to the intersection with PR-2 toward PR-52.


The ACT reminds drivers that, at the construction site, drivers must slow down, be aware of signs and other traffic control devices that will be installed in the area for the safety of drivers and workers. It urges citizens to stay informed about the work and projects on social media, Facebook/DTOP, Twitter @DTOP and @ACT.


The ACT also announced that as part of the Road Safety Improvements project, PR-189 is being resurfaced from kilometer (km) 0 to km 3.3 in both directions in the municipality of Caguas.


The work began Monday and is to be performed at night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. It involves lane closures in both directions due to the removal of the asphalt surface and replacement with new asphalt.


With traffic congestion anticipated in the area, drivers are encouraged to use the WAZE app to reduce delays in travel times.
