School year extended due to COVID-19

By The Star Staff

The island Department of Education (DE) announced on Wednesday the extension of the school semester as part of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In order to comply with school days, the school calendar was amended,” the DE said on its social networks.

“Final exams are scheduled for the first week of June, grades will be published in the Student Information System on June 8 and the school year will end on June 10,” the DE said.

The start of the current semester was postponed until Jan. 24 due to a surge in COVID-19 cases as a result of the omicron variant.
