Searches for accommodations in Puerto Rico through Airbnb have increased by more than 700% since the announcement of superstar urban singer Bad Bunny’s residency, scheduled to be held at the Puerto Rico Coliseum between July 11 and Sept. 14.
Interest in accommodations has not only been concentrated in San Juan, but also in nearby areas such as Carolina, Luquillo and Fajardo, as well as other municipalities such as Aguadilla and Cabo Rojo, reflecting travelers’ desire for a more authentic experience on the island.
Cities in the United States such as Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Chicago and Orlando, as well as Latin American cities, including Mexico City, Bogotá, Guayaquil and Lima, have registered a significant increase in searches for stays in Puerto Rico through the platform.
According to Airbnb, 94% of the island’s hosts are local residents, and 90% of them provide recommendations to guests, contributing to an authentic experience. Guest preferences include beachfront accommodations, private homes, rural areas, and cabins, as well as amenities such as pools, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi.
The platform highlighted that in 2023, spending by guests who stayed at lodgings booked through Airbnb generated an economic impact of $1.4 billion, supported 25,000 jobs, and generated more than $815 million in wages on the island.Despite the high search volume, there are still accommodations available on Airbnb in different regions of Puerto Rico for those planning to attend Bad Bunny’s concerts.
