The Senate Appointments Committee, led by Senate President José Luis Dalmau Santiago, announced Sunday that it will continue this week with the evaluation of agency secretaries nominated by Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia, giving priority to the consideration of officials proposed to form part of the governor’s cabinet.
“The Appointments Committee continues to attend the appointments sent by the Governor with great responsibility and will process all appointments,” Dalmau Santiago said in a written statement. “This week the appointments of various heads of agencies will be considered, whose positions are fundamental for the development of our island at an educational and economic level.”
Today the Appointments Committee will take up the appointment of Prof. Magaly Rivera Rivera as secretary of Education. On Tuesday, the appointment of Manuel Cidre as secretary of Economic Development and Commerce will be considered.
Both public hearings will be held in the Senate’s Leopoldo Figueroa Room at 10 a.m. and will be broadcast live through the upper chamber’s social networks.
The Appointments Committee will announce in the next few days the other officials who will be evaluated in the course of the week.
