Yauco Mayor Ángel Luis “Luigi” Torres Ortiz said Thursday that “all work that has to do with our solar street lights continues without stopping.”
“With this initiative, Yauco will position itself as the second city to operate with solar street lights, a significant step toward modernization and street security,” the mayor said in a written statement, noting that a day earlier he and his public works director inspected the new street light installations on highway PR-128.
“In this way, we are reinforcing even more the security of our streets,” he added. “This will reinforce, without doubt, the work of our 93 security cameras.”
The new project has a cost of $188,000, Torres Ortiz said, and applies to six intersections.
