In an activity held Thursday, the members of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Puerto Rico Ramon Gonzalez Simounet welcomed the Economic and Commercial Counselor attached to the Spanish Embassy in the United States, Francisco Millan Rajoy, who will be the new Head of the Economic and Commercial Office in Puerto Rico.
“For me it is an honor to come from the Mother Land, Spain, and find myself with a warm reception on the part of the members of the official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Puerto Rico. I am here to become a cooperating and facilitating entity, above all a friend to all of you who are a component of such an important organization which is the Chamber,” said Milán Rajoy. “We are at an important moment when, despite passing through a hurricane, an earthquake and a terrible pandemic of COVID, Puerto Rico shows that it has the capacity to lift itself up, when it is demonstrated that there are great opportunities to grow.”
Gonzalez Simounet, who is the chief executive officer of Empire Gas, offered his unconditional support to Milan Rajoy.
“We welcome... Francisco Millan Rajoy... with whom the members of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Puerto Rico hope to work closely. In the same way that we are coordinating with the Consul General of Spain, Josep Maria Bosch Bessa, on this occasion we have a designated person to attend to our affairs for agreements and trade missions in Puerto Rico,” said Simounet. “The preparation and experience of Francisco Millan Rajoy will allow us to expand our services, better coordinate the help and support to our members of the Chamber, but above all, it will allow rapid access to information with the industries and commerce of Spain.”
For his part, Consul Bosch Bessa said: “It is a historic moment, a moment in which we all row in the same direction. The Consulate of Spain will always be available to help the members of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce as well as any citizen who is interested in learning about the business, tourism and educational opportunities that Spain offers.”
