Suspect in 2011 ‘San Juan Park massacre’ arrested

Suspect Luis Soto Navarrete was arrested early Wednesday in Santurce by agents of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s Major Crimes Division.

Luis Soto Navarrete, who is linked to the murder of a young pregnant mother and her two children, ages 8 and 10, in what is known as the San Juan Park massacre, was arrested early Wednesday in Santurce by agents of the Major Crimes Division of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.

Soto Navarrete was seized with an illegal firearm in the middle of a raid on his residence on Igualdad Street.

The Arrest and Extradition Division and the Canine Unit of the Police Bureau also participated in the raid.

The San Juan Park massacre took place in the early morning hours of March 19, 2011, when Lorenis Karen Mejías Contreras, who was eight months pregnant, and her sons Néstor and Jeremy were found murdered in their apartment in the San Juan Park residential area.
