Family Secretary Suzanne Roig Fuertes joined Wilma Ortiz Rivera, head of the Families and Children Administration (ADFAN by its acronym in Spanish), on Tuesday to deliver 336 tablets to social workers and technicians in the senior citizen program.
“We are very excited to undertake this effort, which not only represents a technological advancement but also a direct commitment to our professionals and, above all, to the people we serve,” Roig Fuertes said. “These tools will allow our social workers to perform their duties more efficiently and effectively, ensuring that each of our citizens receives the care they deserve.”
The tablets will be connected to the agency’s new Integrated System of Services for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities (SISAM), which will allow case managers and regional and local supervisors to more quickly respond to service requests made by citizens.
“By integrating technology into our process, we are not only modernizing our approach, but also eliminating unnecessary paperwork,” Ortiz Rivera noted. “This will speed up the processing of new foster care service applications and facilitate renewals for facilities licensed by the Family Department.”
In addition, the SISAM system will be integrated with other existing systems in a collaborative approach to ensure that all processes are more fluid and effective.
The officials also assured program participants that “with these improvements, we are committed to automating the process of creating, maintaining, and managing payment authorizations so that everyone receives their support in a timely manner.”
