The Republican National Convention ended Thursday in the state of Wisconsin and William Villafañe, candidate for Resident Commissioner in Washington was bit present which showed his political ambivalence of the senator, according to Ada Álvarez Conde y Gabriel López Arrieta, Popular Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for Senate and House respectively.

“Villafañe has publicly admitted that he is a Republican, but on several occasions he has wobbled on whether or not he would support former President Donald Trump,” said Álvarez Conde. “We demand to know his position. The Republicans di work with him because he is anti-Trump and the Democrats don’t work with him because he is Republican. This wobbling presents a big problem. Villafañe should say who he goes with and how he is going to work in Washington.”

For López Arrieta, the problem that Villafañe representa for Puerto Rico in the federal capital contrasts completely with the relationship with Washington of Pablo José Hernández Rivera, PDP candidate for resident commissioner. “While Villafañe doesn’t go to the Republican Convention, Pablo José is an official delegate for the (Democratic) Convention,” said López Arrieta.

The PDP candidate for Washington, who has worked and lived in the federal capital for five years knows from the inside how Congress works, she said.

“In just a few months, Pablo José has met seven times with the Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries”, añadió López Arrieta.
