Vázquez Garced likes husband’s chances for confirmation as appeals court judge

Former Gov. Wanda Vázquez Garced went to the Capitol on Wednesday where the Senate will pass judgment on the appointment of her husband, Judge Jorge Díaz Reverón, and gave assurances that she sees no problems for him to be confirmed as a Court of Appeals judge.
“I am grateful that the hearing is being held so that all the people of Puerto Rico can listen to his proposals, his answers,” Vázquez Garced said upon her arrival at the Capitol. “The best thing about the judicial branch is that everything is recorded. So anyone who makes an approach must present it with the recording and he puts his 12 years as a judge at the disposal of the committee.”
Díaz Reverón’s appointment as a Court of Appeals judge was to go before the Senate and the Appointments Committee for evaluation.
“I believe that he has the votes,” the former governor added. “I believe that he should have them; that is the information that we have. It is not up to us. It is up to the senators to evaluate it and for them to make their decisions.”
