By The Star Staff

The Puerto Rico Police Bureau is investigating the complaint of a woman who alleges that she was scammed by a man who promised to marry her but only if she helped him move to Puerto Rico, and she agreed to transfer more than $21,000 to make it happen.

The woman, a resident of the El Cortijo urbanization in Bayamón, told authorities that she made several transactions via money order, which were collected outside the jurisdiction of Puerto Rico.

According to her complaint, a man who identified himself as David indicated that he would move to Puerto Rico to meet and marry her, but she had to help him pay for the move, and she agreed.

The Property Division of the Bayamón Criminal Investigation Corps will continue with the investigation.
