120-plus youth baseball teams to play in Caribbean World Series

Cataño Interim Mayor María de los Ángeles Pérez Ramos announced earlier this week that more than 120 teams will participate in the 2026 Caribbean World Series starting this Friday.

The youth baseball tournament will bring together players ages 6 to 18 from Puerto Rico, the United States, the Dominican Republic, the Virgin Islands and Colombia.

“We are proud to welcome all the athletes, coaches, family members, and visitors arriving in our town to be part of this great sporting experience,” Pérez Ramos stated in a written release. “Cataño is ready to receive them with facilities in excellent condition, a comprehensive security plan, support staff, and the hospitality that distinguishes our people.”

Games will be held primarily at sports facilities in Cataño, with additional venues in Bayamón, Toa Baja and Dorado, according to Luis Alvarado, state director of National Championship Sports Puerto Rico.

As the main host, Cataño will be responsible for facility maintenance, logistical support, transportation coordination, municipal emergency medical personnel and security operations during the competition.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday at 5 p.m. on the main stage at the Cataño Waterfront (Frente Marítimo), featuring a parade of the participating delegations.

The tournament will also draw coaches, family members and those accompanying the players, boosting business activity at shops, restaurants and other establishments in Cataño and nearby municipalities over the course of several days.
