Airbnb unveils more than 75 improvements to personalize user experience

By The Star Staff

Airbnb announced more than 75 improvements to its platform earlier this week, offering a more personalized experience for guests and new tools for hosts, just ahead of the 2024 winter travel season.

The improvements include personalized recommendations, search suggestions and a more simplified payment process, among other features.

“For decades, travel apps have been one-size-fits-all. Today we are changing that,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, in a written statement. “With dozens of new features, this is the beginning of a more personalized Airbnb.”

Among the improvements for guests are destination recommendations based on previous searches, personalized filter suggestions and a streamlined payment process to facilitate reservations. For hosts, the platform introduced pricing suggestions and an income dashboard that allows them to view and manage payments more efficiently.

Airbnb also revealed the top winter 2024 travel trends, highlighting local destinations in Puerto Rico such as Humacao, Vega Baja and Utuado. Additionally, international destinations popular with Puerto Rico users include Medellín, Colombia; Madrid; and Miami. The most booked categories on the island this winter include Tropical, Incredible Pools, National Parks, and Beaches.

Updates for guests and hosts began rolling out Wednesday around the world, and Airbnb also announced that its efforts continue with more improvements to optimize the travel experience.
