The Bucaneros of Arroyo defeated the Azucareros of Yabucoa 12-1 on Friday at José “Cheo” Cruz Stadium in Arroyo and will play the Guapos of Dorado for the COLICEBA championship.

Right-hander Yadier Rolón was dominant on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings to earn the victory for Arroyo. Julio Morales, Brian Ortiz, Edwin Sánchez and Ian Martínez pitched in relief.

The Bucaneros set the tone in the first inning when a double by Tony Brian Méndez cleared the bases for a 3-0 lead.

Méndez capped off a standout night at the plate with five RBIs, four hits and three runs scored for Arroyo. Francisco Ati Cruz went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI, while Elerie Rivera contributed three hits and two runs scored. Yabucoa’s only run came on a solo home run by Johnuelle Ponce in the eighth inning.

The Guapos were 5-3 winners over the Marlins of Ceiba in the other semifinal series on Saturday night at Moisés García Stadium in Guaynabo.

Dorado scored all the runs it would need in the third inning as Pedro Crespo, Ian Laureano, Edgar Corsino and Eliel Figueroa drove in runs and the Guapos went on to eliminate Ceiba.

Dorado will be making its first appearance in the COLICEBA finals.
