Atenienses win 6th straight, 85-80 over Gigantes in BSNF

The Atenienses de Manatí defeated the Gigantes de Carolina 85-80 on Wednesday night at Juan A. Cruz Abreu Coliseum for their sixth consecutive victory in the National Women’s Basketball Federation (BSNF).
The Atenienses improved to 10-6, while the Gigantes fell to 9-8.
Imported player Chelsea Mitchell again led Manatí with 21 points. Kiki Jefferson, another reinforcement for the Manatí starting lineup, added 17 points. The trio of native players, India Pagán, Kaela Hilaire and Pamela Rosado, contributed 16, 14 and 11 points, respectively. Hilaire also collected 12 assists.
In a losing effort, Tayra Meléndez finished with 28 points, Teana Muldrow scored 16, Kiara Leslie had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Charity Harris added 13 points.
Meanwhile, a game between the Criollas of Caguas (5-9) and the Ganaderas of Hatillo (6-8) was suspended due to weather conditions, while a game between Ponce (4-11) and host Caguas originally scheduled for Thursday was moved to Friday at 7 p.m.
On Thursday night the Ganaderas were to face the Gigantes at Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in Carolina.
