Barceloneta rises to top of COPUVO standings

The Ninjas of Barceloneta reached the top of the overall standings of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Confederation (COPUVO) men’s Division B on Saturday, defeating the Guayacanes of Guayanilla in three sets in a match held at Sixto Escobar Vargas Auditorium in Barceloneta.
Barceloneta dominated the match with scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-19, earning four points that raised their total to nine, with a 2-1 record. The Ninjas climbed from second to first place in the standings, displacing the Llaneros of Toa Baja, who have a perfect 3-0 record and eight points.
Meanwhile, Guayanilla failed to score any points in the match. The Guayacanes, the Bayamón Vaqueros and the Utuado Taínos, all with 1-0 records, remain the only teams with no points so far this season
COPUVO men’s Division B play continues this Sunday with a busy schedule of three games. At 6 p.m., the Llaneros will face the Big Brothers of (1-1, four points) at Domingo “Lulo” González Court in Carolina. At 7 p.m., the Plataneros of Corozal (1-1, three points) will take on the Legends of San Juan (1-0, three points) at the Robinson School court in Condado, while the Ninjas will clash with the Taínos at Ángel L. Cuevas Court in Utuado.
