Pablo Marrero Stadium in Barranquitas will host the 87th Class A Baseball All-Star Game this Sunday, with pre-game activities starting at 10 a.m.
Sixty players, selected from among the 81 teams participating in the league organized by the Department of Recreation and Sports (DRD by its initials in Spanish), will make up the two teams representing the Atlantic and Caribbean divisions, the DRD announced in a press release.
The Atlantic Division team, which comprises the North, El Toa, Metro, and Southeast regions, will be coached by Charlie Fermaint, from Barriada Sandín in Vega Baja. The Caribbean Division will feature players from the South, Southwest, Central, and South-Central regions and will be under the command of Omar Colón Rivera, manager of the Próceres de Barranquitas.
As part of the activities associated with the event, the traditional Class A Legends Game , a softball game dedicated to prominent figures in regional sports, will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m., there will be baserunning, barrel roll, and home run competitions before the main event, scheduled for nine innings.
