Bomba festival set for this weekend in Guaynabo

The traditional event is a platform to support local businesses and highlight Guaynabo’s cultural customs and traditions.

The Bomba, Plena and Salsa Festival will take place this weekend in the Amelia Waterfront parking lot in the Amelia neighborhood of Guaynabo.

The traditional event organized by the municipality’s Department of Arts and Culture is a platform to support local businesses and highlight the community’s cultural customs and traditions. For decades, the festival has brought residents and visitors together in a space for celebration and coexistence that, in this 2024 edition, will feature the participation of dozens of local artisans who will exhibit and sell their creations as a prelude to the Christmas season.

“We invite the community to enjoy two days of good music in an activity that highlights our customs and traditions,” Mayor Edward O’Neill Rosa said. “The community of Amelia and its merchants strive to develop sporting and cultural events to keep neighbors united.”

This year, the festival is dedicated to 11 young athletes from the Amelia neighborhood who have excelled in various sports disciplines and represent a source of pride and inspiration for the community.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, parking areas will be available nearby, and the municipal police will implement a surveillance plan during both days of the festival. The agenda includes activities for all tastes and ages:

Saturday, Nov. 16

5 p.m. – String Ensemble of the Guaynabo School of Fine Arts; 7 p.m. – Los Pleneros de Severo; 9 p.m. – Tribute to Héctor Lavoe

Sunday, Nov. 17

2 p.m. – Palenque Workshop; 3:30 p.m. – Grupo Tamboricua; 5 p.m. – Junte Loiceño; 7 p.m. – Aníbal de Gracia and His Orchestra; 9 p.m. – Luisito Carrión
