The Baloncesto Superior Nacional Femenino (BSNF) will launch its 2025 season on Saturday, August 23, featuring ten teams —the largest field in 16 years— and a special dedication to former national team captain and standout player Janett De Jesús.
“We are celebrating the spectacular conclusion of last season. All the teams gave their best, and we witnessed how fan confidence grew steadily, overflowing in support during the finals, where the Santurce Cangrejeras were crowned champions,” said BSNF president Luis Miranda Ramos in a written statement.
This year’s tournament will mark the return of the Caguas Criollas, Ponce Leonas and Yauco Cafetaleras, along with the debut of the Juana Díaz Monarcas. The regular season will feature 18 games per team and run through October 12, with the top eight squads advancing to the quarterfinals. The championship series will be played in a best-of-seven format.

“If 2024 was red hot, you can’t afford to miss a single second of the 2025 tournament. I encourage Puerto Rican sports fans to fill the arenas and support their favorite teams. I guarantee they will enjoy top-quality basketball at the highest level,” Miranda Ramos added.
All games will stream on the BSNF’s official YouTube channel, while Telemundo (Punto 2) will broadcast ten regular season matchups and the entire finals series on television. Opening night will be held at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum with a showdown between the defending champion Santurce Cangrejeras and the Carolina Gigantes.
The league has dedicated the 2025 season to Janett De Jesús, a historic figure in Puerto Rican women’s basketball. Over the course of 23 BSNF seasons, she won multiple championships, led in numerous statistical categories, earned international medals, and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2014) and the Río Piedras Sports Hall of Fame (2018).
